Although the tiger shark (Galeocerdo cuvier) can grow as
big as the white shark and is found in more frequent numbers, its biology and behavior
are still widely unknown.
Over and over we read about shark ATTACKS in the media. This is an effective but misleading way of
making normal readers believe that all incidents involving sharks are always the result of a shark
attack!
Would it not be better to generally speak of shark accidents -
at least until an attack has been
proven without a shadow of a doubt based on verified facts?
